Our Hospital
Providing Veterinary Services for over 50 years
“Simcoe Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1950 by Dr. G. Curtis Spearin, a 1948 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College. Originally the primary residence for Dr. Spearin and his family, the practice served farm animals as well as pets, using the lower floor as office and kennels. In 1963 the original log cabin was moved and donated to the Simcoe County Museum, at which time the present facility was built. Gradually the small animal practice began to increase as Barrie grew.
In June of 2000 Simcoe Veterinary Hospital celebrated its 50 year anniversary. The same fall Dr. Spearin retired from veterinary practice and Drs. Mark Bolton and Katrin Schmidt took on the practice. At present Dr. Bolton, Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Amy Jackson all practice in the existing facility.
